History

Last night was our first night dining out with Poppy. She was an angel.  I thought it was a good omen that beef Wellington was on the menu.  It was Steve Spear's favorite dish, so I ordered it in honor of him.  He would have loved it.  Here are the mutts, all three of them, actually behaving well at the restaurant.

We woke up early to walk around St. Augustine with the dogs before it got hot.  What a beautiful city.  We started at "The Fountain of Youth".  We didn't go in, but I think John looks much younger already for just being nearby.

The neighborhood was gorgeous. Live oaks and Spanish moss here replace the palms of south florida as a predominant species.  This was the intersection across from "The Fountain of Youth" and I'm sure Seattleites will appreciate both street names.

I'll let the pictures of St. Augustine speak for themselves.

(Key lime pie and almond torte enjoyed at  restaurant across from church)

We stopped briefly in Jacksonville to see Johns cousin Karen and her lovely family...,

... and then headed out to beautiful Amelia Island.

We will be camping this evening on Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Our campsite is quiet, secluded and shaded by live oaks.

It is now dark outside and we are surrounded by thousands of lightning bugs. It is truly magical.
